Palo Alto Networks Buys Console to Power AI Agent Workflows in Cortex
Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ: PANW) announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Console, an AI-native platform built to help enterprises design agentic workflows and automate operational tasks through natural-language prompts. The company said Console's technology will be folded into its Cortex platform, enabling security teams to investigate signals, prioritize triage, and execute remediation actions across distributed environments without manual scripting. Console's core differentiator is its ability to translate plain-language objectives into multi-step agentic workflows, letting AI agents perform the underlying analysis and response actions autonomously. CEO Nikesh Arora framed the deal as a way to let customers "have a direct conversation with data," arguing that natural-language automation can resolve alerts, incidents, and service requests at machine speed. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition coincided with Palo Alto Networks' fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 earnings. The company reported a GAAP net loss of $282 million, or $0.35 per diluted share, compared with net income of $254 million a year earlier, and said it added nearly $1 billion in net new next-generation security ARR during the quarter. Forward guidance points to fiscal 2027 revenue between $14.1 billion and $14.2 billion, representing 23% to 24% growth.
