A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that can store text, URLs, contact information, and other data. It was invented in 1994 by Denso Wave for tracking automotive parts, and is now widely used for payments, authentication, marketing, and sharing links.
QR codes encode data in a grid of black and white squares (modules). The three large squares in the corners help scanners detect the code orientation. Data is encoded using Reed-Solomon error correction, meaning the code can still be read even if partially damaged.
QR codes themselves are just data containers and are not inherently dangerous. However, they can encode malicious URLs that lead to phishing sites or malware downloads. Always check the decoded URL before visiting it. Our generator creates QR codes locally in your browser.
