When a company is hacked, attackers steal their database of user accounts. This usually includes your email address and password (sometimes encrypted, sometimes in plain text). It can also include your name, phone number, physical address, payment information, and security question answers.

What to Do If You Were Breached
Don't panic — breaches are extremely common. What matters is how you respond.
Change your password on the breached service immediately.
Change it everywhere else — if you reused that password (most people do), change it on every other service that uses the same password.
Enable 2FA — two-factor authentication makes stolen passwords useless without your phone.
Use a password manager — generate unique passwords for every service so one breach doesn't compromise everything.
Monitor your accounts — watch for unauthorized transactions, login attempts, or changes.
